The hugely popular action/racing film franchise is coming with their latest installment next year. Directed by Justin Lin and written by Daniel Casey, Fast and Furious 9 or F9 are the ninth film in the series along with the overall. The franchise which began with the release of Fast and The Furious in 2001 has lived nearly two decades and shows no sign of slowing down as its next among the global audience continues to increase.
Release Date
F9 was originally scheduled to release in May 2020 but was delayed by a year as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. But fortunately for the fans, Universal Pictures, the distributor of the film, has verified that fans will be able to see their favorite characters in the theatres on 2nd April 2021. This means that the (unnamed) setup of the franchise which was assumed to release 2021 will probably be pushed back to at a later date, most likely in 2022.
Plot
The narrative of F9 has been kept under wraps for now. In the trailer, we see Dominic (Vin Diesel) loving life with his wife, Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), and their son. Their joyful life is interrupted by the coming of Jakob (John Cena), Dom’s brother, and also a master thief/assassin, that holds a personal grudge against Dominic. Jakob is revealed to be working with Dominic’s old enemy Cipher (Charlize Theron) to bring him down.
The taglines of the film offer some insight into the plot itself. While’Justice is arriving’ could refer to different revenge angles in the narrative. Cipher and Dom want to get back at each other. And now that Han has returned to the film, the problem of his murder will also be taken care of in the film. On the flip side, the tagline,’Not all blood is household’, seems to refer to this bad blood between Dominic and his brother.
Cast
Tyrese Gibson plays Roman Pearce, Jordana Brewster is back to enjoying Mia Toretto, Dominic’s sister, Chris Ludacris Bridges plays Tej Parker.
Lucas Black, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, etc also appear in the film.
