Lucifer is an American urban fantasy web series developed by Tom Kapinos that premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016. It is based on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith, and Mike Dringenberg taken from the comic book series The Sandman.
The series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis), a beautiful and powerful angel who was cast out of Heaven for betrayal. As the Devil he gets bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell for millennia. He resigns his throne in defiance to his father and abandons his kingdom for Los Angeles, where he ends up running his nightclub called “Lux”.
Its first season was released on 25 January 2016 with 13 episodes, the second season was aired on 19 September 2019 with 18 episodes. The third season was released on 2 October 2017 with 26 episodes, the fourth season was aired on 8 May 2019 with 10 episodes.

Lucifer season 5: Plot
There are no plot details that have been shared by the creators but certainly it will pick up from where it left in the previous season.
In season four, Lucifer returned to hell to resume his role as king because even though he had defeated the demons, he understood that they would eventually return.
But resuming his old post didn’t mean that Lucifer has turned his back on all of the good qualities he picked up on Earth, hence the devil face and angel wings.

Release date of season 5
There is no official announcement of the premiere date but the filming for season 5 has been done but the production has been halted due to the current situation.
We can either expect it to be released by the end of 2020 or in 2021.
