Now more powerful Bajaj Pulsar NS160

Last month we brought you information about various Bajaj Pulsar NS160 that have revised to meet the BS6 requirements. Now, an online government paper has disclosed the BS6 Pulsar NS160’s power figure and surprisingly. It’s more than what the outgoing bike generates.

Although the latest NS160 will continue to powered by the same 160.3cc, single-cylinder oil-cooled engine. The paper will not disclose that the carburetor on the outgoing model replaced with a fuel-injection system. It’s quite likely, however, that this move has occurred and taken a small increase in performance with it–to 17hp from the 15.5hp that the outgoing bike makes.

About Performance:

Interestingly, this peak performance number pops up higher in the rev range. At 9,000rpm–relative to the 8,500rpm on the current vehicle. No note made of the torque number. But we believe this will also be different.

A peak strength of 17hp makes the upcoming NS160 the fastest bike in its category. By comparison, 16hp produced by the RTR 160 4V. While the Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ are made much less by 13.6hp and 12.4hp.

Pictures of the modified bike at dealerships around the country have been making their rounds online, and it seems the model has not received any major technical changes by the looks of it.

We are still waiting for an official clarification on the pricing, but the other versions of the price hike Bajaj have experienced that the Pulsar NS160 would possibly cost a little more than Rs 1 lakh. Its nearest rivals, the Apache RTR 160 4V and the Suzuki Gixxer have already modified to meet BS6 requirements and rated respectively at Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.12 lakh.

It’s quite likely, however, that this transition has occurred and taken a small increase in performance. With it–to 17hp from the 15.5hp that the outgoing bike makes. Interestingly, this peak performance number comes up higher in the rev band–at 9,000rpm. As compared to the 8,500rpm on the current bike made.
