Toyota Fortuner facelfit launched, gets a sporty “Legender” variant.

Toyota’s Fortuner gets its first facelift since the 2015 launch. This has been long since the vehicle debuted and Toyota had just unveiled the newest variant in Thailand. So let’s discuss the new Toyota Fortuner.

The new-look

2021 brings Fortuner a new front design. The new update gets a new and bigger mesh pattern grille design. Along with redesigned LED headlights that include LED daytime running lights. The front bumper gets a new design too. The new Fortuner has 18-inch alloy wheels with a completely new design. Back of the vehicle gets a new and slimmer LED taillights. That’s all standard variant upgrades.

A top-spec variant, “Legender” has a most sporty touch. The variant has a split grille and different front bumper design that fits the sequential LED turn indicators. The front has dual projector LED lights and new pattern of LED DRLs. The front chrome touch gets replaced by gloss black finish in the Legender. The 20-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone paint scheme, and more gloss-black elements incorporated into the rear bumper and boot lid differentiate it from the standard model.

The new tech inside

Fortuner 2021 gets a new larger 8-inch touchscreen that has Apple CarPlay capability unlocked. the instrument cluster gets a mild new touch. along with an 8-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seat, the vehicle has wireless charging too. The standard model also includes ambient LED lighting and a 9-speaker JBL speaker audio system.

The Legender however has a 9-inch touchscreen for start. For safer rides, the Legender has 7 airbags and “Toyota Safety Sense”, which adds a collision prevention system, lane departure warning, and radar-guided dynamic cruise control. The new Fortuner also has “Variable Flow Control” that helps in varying steering weight according to the speed of the SUV.

Under the hood?

The 2.4-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine with 150hp and 400Nm remains the same. The 2.8-liter engine gets an upgrade in power from 177 hp to 240 hp, and the torque has been increased to 500 Nm which is 50Nm more than the current model.

When to expect the new facelifts to launch in India, well we could see it in 2021. The new Toyota Fortuner facelift could ranger between 28.66 lakh to 34.43 lakh. For now, we know that Toyota had just announced price hikes, implementing from June 1, on the current Fortuner.
