Netflix released a bunch of new character posters for The Umbrella Academy Season 2 before this week. The posters have arrived just two weeks before the Season 2 release date, July 31, and may comprise some clues about the new season’s narrative.
The new Umbrella Academy Season two books were released via the show’s Twitter earlier this past week. The posters may look minimalist in their layout, but there is still a lot to unpack here. The most important issue is all of the Hargreeves siblings Luther/One (Tom Hopper), Diego/Two (David Castañeda), Allison/Three (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus/Four (Robert Sheehan), Five (Aidan Gallagher), Ben/Six (Justin H. Min), and Vanya/Seven (Ellen Page) are present and accounted for. Additionally, the characters all seem to possess the basic placement, with half their faces obscured by an opaque umbrella while the remainder of the body and their face as observable. A few of these Hargreeves sibs’, such as Klaus and Diego, appear to be sporting new hairstyles and outfits that are gaudy. But, one detail which could tease a Season two plot detail feature Five, whose face has some blood flow on it. With another Umbrella Academy characters seeming relatively normal, Five’s particular look is definitely worth maintaining a snare in.
There’s also the sequence where these posters have been released on Twitter’s matter. Even though the Hargreeves’ possess a specific order of sorts in the Umbrella Academy world, the posters weren’t published in that special sequence (which you can see below). They were released starting with Ben, then Klaus, Allison, Luther, Diego, Vanya, and Five. The posters appearing out of order may gas enthusiast theories that the events of the Season 1 finale, which saw the Hargreeves siblings teaming up to attempt to prevent Vanya from incurring an apocalyptic event but still managing to blow up the moon and so start the apocalypse, will see Season 2 beginning with the Hargreeves family mixed up and spread out across time in some way. This out-of-order theory has some support in the kind of a curious tweet from Min, who tweeted, “Trying to understand why you submitted in this order,” in response to the poster arrangement and led in a shrug emoji in the show’s Twitter. Interesting.
