Being one of the world’s largest manufacturer of Vehicles and renowned as the world’s largest company by shares and companies it own the largest fleet of cars in it’s domain.
Volkswagen has previewed the functionality and tested it’s ID.3 electric hatchback, and according to this the company states that the model will emit in order to warn other road users of its presence.
According to the sources, production of the model has already commenced from November 2019 onwards, and the manufacturing of the cars will be help in Zwickau plant Germany.
The design of the concept was proposed by Marc Lichte along with Klaus Bischoff. The chassis is designed for the needs of compact car or a small family car type, designed according to 5-door hatchback.
The model supports a rear wheel drive with the electric motor fitted in a rear configuration. The Powertrain comprises of an Electric motor capable of producing maximum power of 150 kW which is nearly equivalent to 200 HP and a torque of 310 NM equivalent to 230 lb-ft.
Equipped with a single speed transmission, the drivetrain is fully battery operated. The different electric range of the model in different engine configuration is specified below i.e. 45 kWh: up to 330 km, 58 kWh: up to 420 km and 77 kWh: up to 550 km.
The model features all the features of a plug-in hybrid with Plug-in charging available in DC 125 kW via CCS Combo 2, 3-phase AC 11 kW via Type 2 and 1-phase AC 7.2 kW via Type 2. The model is reported to be a predecessor of Volkswagen’s E-Golf course car, with some major improvements and upgradations.
The Volkswagen ID.3 is a compact (C-segment) electric car produced by Volkswagen based on the MEB platform, and will be the first model of the I.D. Series from Volkswagen.
It was unveiled in 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor-show and all newly introduced electric cars have had to come with a sound generator that emits noise at speeds up to 30kph.
Production versions of the ID.3 will began to roll out of the company’s plant in Zwickau in early November 2019, and still the model is in it’s production mode.
The factory contains 1,700 robots, with driverless transport systems and automated manufacturing technology used throughout the line. Zwickau will build electric vehicles only from 2021.
