Yuri On Ice, the Japanese sports anime that had won fans all over the internet could soon be back with another season of ice skating extravaganza.
Yuri On Ice Season 2 is hotly anticipated and fans can’t wait to see what adventures Victor and Yuri will be upto now.
The first season, which feels like it happened ages ago, was aired in 2016. The story revolves around a young, anxious Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki, who is taken under the wing of a legendary Russian figure skating champion Victor Nikiforov. Victor also happens to be the mentor of another Yuri; Russian skater Yuri Plitsetsky. The season follows the two Yuris as they train and compete against each other in the Figure Skating Grand Prix. Yuri On Ice is write by Misuro Kubo and directed by Sayo Yamamoto.
The series was not only a hit among Japanese anime and manga fans, but several real-life figure skaters like Johnny Weir, Denis Ten, Evgeni Plushenko and many more are also known to be avid fans of the anime series. It became a hit among fans due to its beautiful story and the amazingly choreographed ice-skating sequences. The series also garnered much attention due to its portrayal of a same-sex relationship *spoiler alert* between Victor and Yuri K. With the first season being such a hit, and fans are now dying to know what season 2 could possibly have in store for us.
Yuri On Ice Season 2 Release Date
With season 1 being aired in late 2016 and being a huge hit among fans, the producers decided to release a movie. The movie titled Ice Adolescence was released in 2019. However, the studio hasn’t yet announced anything about another season of Yuri On Ice. But, we can be quiet positive that there will be another season considering how popular the first season was. So we can expect Season 2 , anywhere between late 2020 and early 2021.
What Can We Expect?
Season 2 is likely to venture deeper into the relationship between Yuri K and Victor. Things will be quiet interesting as they no longer will be just a mentor and trainee. In fact, we may even see the two compete against each other in the next ice skating Grand Prix which would be quiet an interesting watch. However, all of this is only speculation and we will only know what adventures lay ahead of Victor and Yuri once the second installment actually comes out.
