2019 Aprilia RSV4: The Most Advanced Line-Up Ever Produced by Aprilia

Heading from Italy, Aprilia is a motorcycle brand which is owned by Piaggio. The company was initially involved in the business of manufacturing bicycles and within no time started to manufacturing scooters and small-capacity motorcycles. In recent years, Aprilia has emerged as one of the largest sport bikes manufacturer with line-ups like 1,000CC V-twin RSV Mille and the V4 RSV4. The company is also involved in road-racing and production motorcycles spare parts.

The company has also actively participated in now-defunct 125cc, 250cc and 500cc Grand Prix classes of the FIM world champion. Aprilia recently returned to world superbike since 2009 season and in MotoGP since the 2012 season. Aprilia also features in the off-road racing world, with their 450cc V-2 moto-crosser producing respectable results in most of the racing categories.

Now coming to the new model in the line-up RSV4 has seen a major update. The engine now is more powerful than ever with increased BHP and Torque profile over it’s predecessor. The Exhaust is now made from an advanced titanium Akrapovic Unit, in order to handle exhaust gases in much efficient manner.

Taking a look at the power house of the bike, the new model has an upgraded displacement of 1068cc, producing a maximum power of 214 BHP at 13200 rpm and 122 Nm of torque at 11000 rpm. The engine is mated with a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox which provides different speed profiles.

The fuel system is a equipped with electronic fuel injection system, providing better fuel control. The wheelbase is shorter by 4mm and 5mm longer for front forks. The new model is equipped with an upgraded electronic suite consisting of eight-step traction control, wheelie control, launch control, an advanced cornering ABS, and unique in class engine mapping option. It is considered the lightest, fastest and most powerful model in the RSV line-up ever produced.

The new model is said to be built around a new chassis which will be a major update on aluminium twin-spar design.

The Aprilia RSV4 concept was started long back in 2009, and since the bike has received numerous updates over the year to make it the best bike available in the market today. The price for the model is yet to be confirmed but is expected to be around 22 lakhs.
