A new kid in the block is here, the new Audi SQ7. The facelift of the Q7 version, but it might be a completely new vehicle. The trendsetter 7-seater family hauler SUV is the best upgrade a mid-life SUV can get. Thus marks the days of bigger larger SUV with the option of high-performance digits in hand too.
SQ7 has the Audi Sport S styling making it elegant yet killer as the Q7. The revised front fascia and the wider and sharper headlight and taillight make it edgy and aggressive. Inside the SQ7 has the traditional steering with switches and buttons with paddle shifter. The Instrument cluster is a 12.3-inch customizable screen. A secondary screen placed at the top of the center console takes inputs for the heating and air conditioning system. The new Audi is roomier as compared to Q7. The seats are diamond stitched which are sporty, comfortable, and spacious for the passengers. The interior is around proofed, the howling diesel engine is deaf to inside ears.
Under the hood hides the 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged diesel engine which gives a whopping 500 horsepower and 900Nm nail-biting torque. The 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission makes it quick responsive. It takes just 4.3 seconds to top 100km/hr down the straight tarmac.
What’s new, well Audi decided the fate of SQ7 to be a mild hybrid vehicle. Equipped with electric-powered compressor, covers for the lag gap of the twin turbochargers. A 48-V mild hybrid system delivers extra power as the throttle is nailed hard or during heavy cornering. If you want a luxurious and useful, large family SUV, but you want it to feel like a sledgehammer when the mood takes you, few do it as well as the SQ7.
This heavy piece of machinery rolls on 22-inch wheels. For better cornering of power-packed SUV, Audi added it with Quattro along with sport suspension. That’s not all, for extra cash, Audi adds the premium Dynamic Package that enhances stability and handling. Active roll stabilization gives a better cornering and all-wheel drive makes sure power is distributed well among the four tires.
The new SQ7 2020 comes with a load of safety features. These include turn assist, adaptive cruise control and assist, hold assist, traffic pilot, pre-tensioning seat belts, autonomous collision avoidance assist and attention assist.
Audi didn’t have a proper competitor for the intermediate performance models from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now, the SQ7 is powerful enough to give the competition a run for their money, but it also allows you to choose between gasoline or diesel power. Also the safety measures make it an incredible raw performing car with all control on the steering wheel itself. But this mighty comes at a whopping cost of 161,500 dollars. But for those who want power, it’s worth every penny.
