2020 Mini John Cooper Works GP to debut in LA

Mini will eventually unveil the third-generation John Cooper Works GP at the Los Angeles Motor Show, packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine making at least 225kW.

When it launches, GP promises to be the fastest running Mini. It is the latest in a line of para-backed, track-ready special editions, with production limited to only 3000 units.

According to Mini, the previous generation JCW GP mapped the Nurburgring in 8: 23.00, but the new model has already fallen below eight minutes.

Expect to see a set of “large alloy wheels,” a more aggressive body kit, and a more extensive roof-mounted rear spoiler.

The engine will breathe through a set of center-mounted exhaust pipes, while the wheel arches of the car have some aerodynamic role …

Previous GP models have gone without rear seats, a feature that can lead to the car you see here.

Along with the JCW GP, Mini will use the Los Angeles Motor Show to give its Cooper SE electric vehicle a North American debut.

The Los Angeles Motor Show kicks off next week. Stay tuned for more from the show floor.
JCW GP production will be limited to 3,000 units worldwide, and pricing in the United States, including destination and handling, will start at $ 45,750.

The first example will arrive at dealers in mid-2020, a few months after the Cooper SE goes on sale next March.

The electric version of the hatchback will also celebrate its North American show premiere at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will include you at least $ 30,750, destination and handling. However, with federal and state electric vehicle tax credits, customers will pay as little as $ 17,900 in some countries.

The Cooper SE packs 181 hp and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) torque electric motors powered by a 32.6 kWh battery pack. It does 0-60 mph (0-96 km / h) and maxes out 93 mph (150 km / h) in 6.9 seconds. With a fully charged battery, it can travel 146–167 mi (235–270 km).
