These days in Europe the South Korean carmaker Hyundai is on a roll. The firm revamped the entire range of city cars in the period of just six months or so, starting with the i10 in September 2019 and ending with the i20 earlier in February. And now it’s time to step under the spotlight with the new i30.
Just like the i20, to be shown at next month’s 2020 Geneva Motor Show, the i30 has been revised to fall in line with its smaller siblings in terms of design, technology, and powertrain.
Visual changes are available for all body styles. Hatchback, fastback, and wagon – and include a revised front end with new headlights and wider looks. But also a slightly redrawn rear, which now comes with a new and wider bumper.
Nevertheless, the most changes reserved for the N Line trim, the i30’s sportier version. Each version gets the same, only more pronounced improvements in styling: larger grille, update headlamp, and new bumpers. There are also new 17 “or 18” wheels to go with the vehicle.
Engine-wise, the new i30 joins the carmaker’s electrification efforts by featuring a 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. For cars powered by the 1.0-liter T-GDI engine (120 ps), 1.6-liter diesel (136 ps) and the new 1.5-liter T-GDI engine (160 PS). This system is available.
As far as technology goes. So, the set has been updated with the addition of new screens that are compliant with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.
By listening to our customers. We have determined that there is a need for a safe, reliable car in the C-segment. Modern features of the car such as state-of-the-art connectivity and efficient powertrains – and that looks good, said, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann. Hyundai Motor Europe Vice President of Marketing and Product.
The new i30 meets the needs of our customers, while still at an attractive price point. It does have a universal appeal.
