After Season 2 dropped its finale on April 9, 2019, Channel 4 revived the Northern Irish comedy show for Derry Girl Season 3, and the filming began in June 2020. However, the production was put on hold as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In October 2020, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, that plays the role of Erin Quinn, told Metro that the Derry Girl Season 3 filming has been pushed back many times. Shooting from the hometown (Ireland) is important to keep the truth of this set.
“We’ve been pushed [filming] currently a few occasions, and I believe we are going to push,” explained Monica Jackson. It is very important to us that we maintain the authenticity of the show and that we don’t provide any show that’s in any way a limited version,” she explained.
According to Cosmopolitan, Derry Girls Season 3’s star Nicola Coughlan explained that the scripts are already written. She recently talked to the series’s creator Lisa McGee concerning the storylines, which can be”so vibrant.” Nicola Coughlan plays with Clare Devlin, one of Erin’s greatest friends in Derry Girls.
“We can’t do anything involving a crowd at this time, so logistically, it’s tough. However, I spoke to Lisa McGee lately and she talked me through the storylines. They’re so vibrant, she added. “Which does not surprise me she’s just incredible – but it made me want to do it right now,” said Coughlan.
As of January 2021, the filming isn’t resumed yet. Coughlan reported the Derry Girls Season 3 celebrities are still awaiting the production to start and they”can not do anything between a crowd at this time, therefore logistically, it is quite tough.”
“We were meant to begin filming around today,” she explained.
“It was angry since when this all began, I think your brain makes assumptions to make you feel better like it will just be a month, it’ll be OK,” she added.
It’s also reported that Derry Girls Season 3 is the final and final season of this show. The girls are growing up and they’ll pass out from Catholic college. In a meeting, Radio Times Lisa McGee told she would like to cast Dara O Briain in Season 3.
“Oh god, it is consistently comedians with me. Dara O Briain, I love you. I don’t understand if he does some acting,” said the founder.
It is anticipated that the main cast from Season two will return to play their respective roles in Derry Girls Season 3. The celebrities are Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn, Tara Lynne O’Neill, Kathy Kiera Clarke, Siobhán McSweeney, Tommy Tiernan, and Ian McElhinney.
