BMW Bike Model No. F 900 R, F 900 XR launched in India, prices start at Rs 9.9 lakh

BMW Motorrad India has launched two new middleweight motorcycles BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR in India. The company has priced the F 900 R naked sports bike at Rs 9.9 lakh. At the same time, the F 900 XR has priced an adventure sport-tourer at Rs 10.5 lakh, while the F 900 XR Pro has been priced at Rs 11.5 lakh. BMW is strengthening its grip in the middleweight segment and is an affordable motorcycle compared to the BMW S 1000 R and S 1000 XR.

The BMW F 900 R will compete with the Triumph Street Triple RS, KTM 790 Duke, and Ducati Monster 821 in the Indian market. At the same time, the F 900 XR will compete with the Ducati Multistrada 950 and the upcoming Triumph Tiger 900 GT. Bookings for both models have started at BMW Motorrad dealerships from today.

The BMW F 900 R is a muscular roadster motorcycle and has a clean engine. Along with this, it has been given thicker rear tires and aggressive stance so that it has a strong road presence. The company makes it look more muscular with contrast side panels, extruded fuel tank, and gold forks. The F 900 R will look like the elder brother of the BMW G 310 GS in the Indian market.

The BMW F 900 XR, on the other hand, is a full adventure sports tourer motorcycle and can go off-road with it. It has the same chassis that is found in the F 900 R, but it has different panels and comes for a longer rider with different riding dynamics, which means that the seats are longer and taller. The F 900 XR is long and has a wide windscreen.

Both the motorcycles have an 895 cc parallel-twin engine, which comes with 86 mm more bore. It has the same stroke as 77 mm and is derived from the 853cc motor which is available in the F 750 GS and F 850 GS. This engine generates 105 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and torque of 92 Nm at 8,500 pm. The new engine comes with two balancer shafts to keep the vibration checked and also to carry more weight. The F 900 R takes 3.7 seconds to catch a speed of 0 to 100 mph. At the same time, the XR takes 3.6 seconds to catch the same speed.

Both the motorcycles have automatic stability control standard with rain and road modes. ABS and stability control are switchable which can also be completely eliminated. As other standard features, it has full LED lighting. Like other BMW middleweight bikes, this bike also has optional ‘Pro’ modes withdraw torque control, dynamic traction control, ABS Pro, and dynamic brake control. As a second option features, the bike has BMW Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA). Along with this, you can also choose Adaptive Cornering Lights and as a standard fitment, the company is also offering a 6.5 inch full TFT screen.
