Land Rover has just pulled the wraps off its most extreme Range Rover Sport yet – the SV Edition Two. This isn’t just another luxury SUV with a fancy badge; it’s a 635-horsepower monster that promises to rewrite the rulebook for high-performance family haulers.

Raw Power Meets British Luxury

Under the bonnet sits BMW’s legendary 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, the same powerplant found in the BMW X5 M Competition. But Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team hasn’t simply borrowed it – they’ve enhanced it.

The numbers speak for themselves:

  • 635 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque
  • 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds
  • Top speed electronically limited to 180 mph
  • Quarter-mile sprint completed in 11.8 seconds

That acceleration figure puts this Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two ahead of many dedicated sports cars, including the Porsche 911 Carrera.

Track-Tuned Chassis for Real-World Performance

SVO hasn’t just focused on straight-line speed. The Edition Two features a completely reworked suspension system with adaptive air springs and electronic active roll control. The result? A 5,500-pound SUV that can genuinely carve corners like a much smaller vehicle.

The Terrain Response 2 system has been recalibrated specifically for this model, offering a ‘Track’ mode that sharpens throttle response and holds gears longer. Meanwhile, the eight-speed automatic transmission gets paddle shifters and a proper manual mode that actually respects the driver’s inputs.

Carbon Fiber and Weight Reduction

Despite its luxury credentials, the SV Edition Two takes weight seriously. Carbon fiber hood, roof, and rear spoiler shed precious pounds, while forged 22-inch wheels reduce unsprung weight. The interior features carbon fiber trim and lightweight bucket seats that still offer heating, cooling, and massage functions.

Exclusive Design Language

Visually, the Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two stands apart from lesser models. The enlarged front air intakes aren’t just for show – they feed the intercoolers and help cool the uprated braking system. Quad exhaust pipes emerge from a redesigned rear diffuser, while subtle SV badging hints at the performance within.

Only three exterior colors will be offered: Santorini Black, Byron Blue, and Carpathian Grey – each specifically developed for this model.

Interior Craftsmanship Meets Modern Tech

Inside, the Edition Two maintains Range Rover’s reputation for luxury while adding performance-focused elements. The dashboard features a new 13.1-inch touchscreen running the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, complete with over-the-air updates.

The front seats are wrapped in Windsor leather with contrast stitching, while rear passengers still enjoy individual climate zones and entertainment screens. It’s a genuine five-seater that doesn’t compromise on comfort for the sake of performance.

Limited Production Numbers

Land Rover plans to build just 2,000 examples of the SV Edition Two globally, with 500 allocated to the UK market and 800 destined for North America. Each vehicle will be hand-assembled at Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations facility in Coventry.

Pricing and Availability

The Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two carries a starting price of £145,000 in the UK, with US pricing expected to begin around $185,000. That positions it directly against the BMW X5 M Competition and Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, but with significantly more exclusivity.

First deliveries are scheduled for Q2 2024, with order books opening next month. Given the limited production run and Land Rover’s current popularity, expect this one to sell out quickly.

The Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two represents everything modern luxury performance should be – brutally fast when you want it, supremely comfortable when you don’t, and exclusive enough to stand out in any crowd. It’s further proof that the line between supercars and SUVs continues to blur in the most exciting ways possible.
