    Will Tesla ever enter the Indian market ?

    Electric vehicles are the future of the automotive industry. At least, that’s what they say on different blogs and websites nowadays. The electric vehicle trend took up after Tesla nailed the automotive market with its products. They were silent and fast, this was different as compared to big loud engines which drank a lot of gas to be ‘fast’ or at least were bigger and noise. But wait, Tesla isn’t the only name walking the path of alternative fuel for our vehicles.

    But the real question is, Will Tesla ever enter the Indian market??

    Well, we don’t know the answer to be honest but we do have many electric vehicles available for sale in India. It is hard to buy one, because of various, but first let’s see the companies and the offered EVs and compare them.

    • Tata Nexon EV

      – This has the best first one to be offered in the country. The sporty Tata Nexon EV uses Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain technology.  The EV is powered by a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which gives it a range of 312 km. The electric motor has a rated power of 129 PS and 245 Nm of torque. To know how powerful the motor is, let’s compare it with the same range of power, gas vehicles.  india’s most selling car, Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS has a 998cc engine with 108 hp. That’s 109.5 PS of power. The Nexon gets charged from 0-80 percent if the battery in just 60 mins. Price -14 to 16 lakhs.

     

    • Tata Tigor EV

      – Another Tata EV, launched just after the Nexon is also a powerful electric vehicle. It features a 21.5 kWh battery pack that powers a 72V 3-phase AC induction motor. The produced power if approx 41 PS  of max power and 105 Nm of peak torque. Price-12.5 to 13.4 lakhs.

     

    • Mahindra E-Verito

      – The Mahindra had also joined the EV segment, though it leads the electric racing segment for a long time. The E-Verito is based on the company’s Verito sedan, which was equipped with a 1.5-liter engine. The electric sedan has a 72V 3-phase electric motor. It is capable of 41PS of power and 91Nm of torque. The model has a claimed range of 110km only, with a top speed rating of 86 km/h.

     

    • Hyundai Kona Electric

      -The Korean automotive Kona is the most expensive EV available in India. But the list of features, power, and range makes it worth the price. The Kona electric has options of a 100kW (136PS) motor with a 39kWh battery pack and a 150kW (204PS) motor with a 64kWh battery pack. The less powerful 100 kW motor can help the vehicle cover a tested range of 452 km per charge. Kona is a 5-seater SUV that can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 57 minutes. It has almost every feature that an SUV offers these days. Price – 23.75 to 23.94 lakhs.

     

    • MG ZS EV

      – This is the most recent addition to India’s EV list. The ZS EV’s 143PS and 353Nm electric motor is powered by a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery. It has a claimed range of 340km on a single charge in real-world conditions. MG provides various ways of charging the vehicle. The fastest one can charge the ZS from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes. The electric SUV is a strong competitor to Kona. Price -Rs.20.88 – 23.58 Lakhs.
