2020 Mercedes GLA Will Debut In “A Few Weeks”

Mercedes is offering the finishing touch on the 2020 GLA, and Autocar will be unveiling the model during an “online presentation” in a few weeks.
Although the publication would not say when this would happen, they recently sampled a pre-production model and learned more about the upcoming crossover.

The GLA has always been on the smaller side, but the redesigned model will reportedly be 0.8 inches (20 mm) lower than its predecessor. Despite this, the wheelbase will grow from 1.2 inches (30 mm) to 107.4 inches (2,729 mm).

The following changes will benefit rear-seat passengers who will get extra legroom.
Passengers will also get more headroom as the second-generation GLA will be about 3.9 inches (100 mm) higher than its predecessor. The extra height also has styling advantages as the model will look more crossover than an off-road inspired hatchback.

Engine options will be shared with some other MFA-based models, and it will reportedly include a 1.3-L four-cylinder with 163 hp (122 kW / 165 PS). Petrol fans can also expect a 2.0 hp four-cylinder 225 hp (168 kW / 228 PS) to be developed.
On the diesel side, there are options whether to include an entry-level 1.5-litre with 114 hp (85 kW / 116 PS).

There will be two 2.0-litre units with outputs of 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 187 hp (139 kW / 190 PS).

Further down the road, expectations can be plug-in hybrids & a handful of AMG variants.
    The GLA 35 will have a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that will produce 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) &295 lb-ft (400 Nm).

    The GLA 45 will use a 2.0-litre engine, but it will be rated at 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) & 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. Similarly, the GLA 45 S will have 415 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) and 368 lb-ft (498 Nm) torque.
