The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu’s flagship original series, is on its way into a fourth season, enlarging the dystopian universe that Man Booker Award-winning novelist Margaret Atwood created in her 1985 book of the same name. The show takes place in a future nation named Gilead, where the government assigns women to societal roles according to fertility and their wealth. Over the past several decades, The Handmaid’s Tale has come to be well and incorporated into the zeitgeist, to the extent that it’s not uncommon to see women dressed as handmaids in political events.
Hulu declared during the series’ third season which The Handmaid’s Tale was picked up for Season 4 — not much of a surprise, given its devoted fanbase and fame. That does not mean we do not understand anything about what to expect going forward before the fourth season strikes screens while there’s a good deal of time.
Release date: The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4
Like all other displays, The handmaid’s story had to endure from the release date because of the coronavirus pandemic throughout the globe. The fourth season expected date of release was in 2020. But no date of release has been announced.

Is this the last season of The Handmaid’s Tale?
The answer: probably not. The answer! Well, past the path Atwood laid out from her novel, the plot possibilities are endless. Practically, The Handmaid’s Tale will likely keep working as long as Hulu decides to continue paying for it. Hulu CEO Randy Freer informed Variety in 2018, “Look, I hope, as success goes, there are 10 seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale.”
Even if it does wrap up before 10 seasons, Hulu currently picked up the right to get another adaptation of Atwood’s current Handmaid’s Tale sequel, The Testaments. So, there’s more than content set in Gilead’s world potentially coming your way.
