The Afeela SUV debut at CES 2026 marks a major step for Sony Honda Mobility. The electric SUV becomes the brand second model. It follows the Afeela 1 sedan. The prototype confirms a 2028 launch plan. The reveal keeps the focus on connected electric mobility and controlled market expansion.

Afeela SUV Revealed At CES 2026

Sony Honda Mobility revealed the Afeela SUV prototype during CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The SUV is derived from the Vision S 02 concept. However, the design has moved closer to production intent. The model represents the brand second vehicle offering.

The Afeela SUV adopts the same visual identity as the Afeela 1 sedan. This design strategy supports a unified brand image. Smooth body panels define the exterior surfaces. Sharp creases and aggressive styling elements remain absent.

At the front, the SUV uses a connected wraparound headlamp layout. A media light bar sits between the lamps. This element supports communication with other vehicles. It also interacts with pedestrians through visual cues.

The bumper remains fully closed and uses smooth finishes. This design improves aerodynamic efficiency. The approach aligns with electric vehicle requirements. It also supports the minimalist appearance used across Afeela models.

Design, Dimensions and Interior Approach

The side profile of the Afeela SUV uses a clean surface layout. Subtle character lines appear on the lower doors. Aero-focused alloy wheels are similar to the sedan design. Flush surfaces reduce drag and visual complexity.

At the rear, a connected LED tail lamp spans the width. Sculpted lower sections create a split bumper look. The roofline slopes gently toward the rear. This fastback shape gives the SUV a coupe inspired silhouette.

The SUV appears similar in size to premium electric rivals. The overall length seems under five metres. The wheelbase appears slightly over three metres. This positions it near models like the BMW iX.

Sony Honda Mobility did not reveal the interior at CES. Images suggest strong similarities with the Afeela 1 sedan. A full-width digital dashboard is expected. Multiple screens support both driver and passenger needs.

Camera-based mirror displays are likely retained. A yoke-style steering wheel may also continue. Sony developed audio systems are expected inside. Connectivity remains a core part of the cabin layout.

Powertrain Expectations and Market Strategy

Technical specifications for the Afeela SUV remain undisclosed. The SUV is expected to share the sedan powertrain. A 91-kilowatt-hour battery pack remains likely. Dual motors may support all-wheel-drive.

Output figures could match the sedan at 475 horsepower. The estimated driving range may reach 482 kilometres. DC fast charging capability may reach 150 kilowatts. This supports long-distance electric travel needs.

Sony Honda Mobility confirmed a planned 2028 launch timeline. The United States will remain the primary launch market. The Afeela 1 sedan enters production earlier. Initial deliveries will begin in selected states.

Japan will receive limited availability after the United States. Europe remains outside current plans. There are no confirmed plans for India. The company continues to prioritize controlled rollout and customer experience.
