In case you have not heard the news already, Animal Kingdom season 5 is going to be premiering this summer on TNT! That’s awesome, but then you hear the bittersweet news that year 6 will be the last season.
We do not even need to start considering how the drama is going to finish after all of these years; the idea of this makes us overly sad. Rather, what we would like to spend a few moments talking about today is something a little different: How long are we going to be waiting for the end of the street?
Let’s start with a reminder: Season 5 will likely begin airing this summer. (Obviously, summer may mean May — this choice falls largely on the people at the network.) We have heard already that year 6 is going to be filming at a certain stage in the spring, so there’s a chance there could be a shorter wait between seasons than usual. What is the operative word? Chance. It’s far from anxious, and there is an opportunity that TNT could wait till the summer of 2021 to say a fond farewell to the series. The opportunity is merely there for a change, given that the season 6 generation can operate easily. We wouldn’t mind if it were to air next winter a time when technology, a range of audiences could be around.
If nothing else, we can say this with assurance: There’s likely going to be a smaller wait between season 5 and 6 than that was between season 4 and 5. By the time the most recent season premieres, it will likely be two years after the season 4 premiere! Let’s hope that a number of the show’s viewers remember to return…
