In case you have not heard the news already, Animal Kingdom season 5 will be premiering this summer on TNT! That’s amazing, but then you hear the bittersweet news that season 6 is going to be the last.
We do not even need to begin thinking about how the drama will end after all of these years; even the idea of this makes us too sad. Rather, what we want to devote a few moments talking about today is something a little different: How long are we likely to be awaiting the end of the road?
Let us start with a reminder: Season 5 will probably begin airing this summer. (Of course, summer might mean May — that choice falls mostly on the folks at the community.) We’ve heard already that season 6 will be filming at some point in the spring, so there’s a chance there may be a shorter wait between seasons than normal. What is the operative word? Chance. It is far from anxious, and there’s a chance that TNT could wait until the summer of 2021 to say a fond farewell to the sequence. The chance is merely there to get a chance, given that season 6 production can run smoothly. We wouldn’t mind if it were to broadcast next winter a time when technology, a range of viewers might be around.
If nothing else, we can say that with assurance: There is likely going to become a smaller wait between season 5 and 6 than there was between season 4 and 5. From the time the most recent season premieres, it will probably be two years following the season 4 premiere! Let us hope that a number of the show’s audiences remember to come back…
