The conclusion of the Aquaman movie surely leaves the door open for Aquaman Two to occur. When it’s Arthur’s conciliatory”we’ll talk” to Patrick Wilson’s Orm after their climactic confrontation (which teases the possibility that Ocean Master will return) or the post-credits scene that has much broader implications for Black Manta’s eventual development as one of the most important villains in Aquaman history, there’s lots of reason to believe that Aquaman 2 could create a larger creative flair than the first movie.
Once I spoke to James Wan soon before the movie’s release, he was not ready to discuss how those might be explored if Aquaman 2 were to happen. “I don’t consider sequels before the first movie has come out,” he explained. “That is exactly who I am. I am highly superstitious.”
But he also added that”a sequel is literally up to the crowd. It’s not us” Bearing that in mind, it appears that the crowd has spoken as Aquaman cruised into a billion-dollar box office haul. Reviews were mostly positive, and it certainly is not generating the kind of backlash that a range of additional DCEU films has seen, a tendency that has been continued with the critically beloved modest box office success of Shazam. So that the studio wasted no time in getting Aquaman 2 on the program.
The fantastic news is that James Wan is considering returning for Aquaman 2. Deadline reports that Wan is expected to”oversee the evolution” of the film, and he will decide whether or not to guide it after a script has been depended on. For all the charms of the movie, its screenplay wasn’t its strongest suit, so maybe this will help improve that part of it. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, that composed the first film, has been called the Aquaman 2 writer, according to The Wrap. If this script prompts Wan to sign back on as director, we’ll see.
It’s a safe bet that Jason Momoa will reunite as Arthur Curry, although nothing has been confirmed, of course, Amber Heard will be back as Mera, and Willem Dafoe will come back for one more turn as Vulko. Can Patrick Wilson’s Orm return? It sure sounds like!
Warner Bros. is moving fast to make Aquaman two a fact, marking a Dec. 16, 2022 release date in their calendar because of it. The very first movie was served by This December window well, and it should do as well this time around. You may find the full schedule of upcoming DCEU films right here. Meanwhile, the very first movie is currently available on DVD and Blu-ray.
Besides all of the tales about Ocean Master and Black Manta that could form the foundation of Aquaman two, you will find the other components of Atlantean and Aquaman background that were seeded throughout DC Comics history. Any expectation that Arthur and Mera would be squaring off from the Trench again in the sequel would seem to be shattered by the statement of that a horror-focused Trench spinoff movie of theirs. But who knows? So there are plenty of undersea epic adventures there are over 75 Decades of background to draw from
