Gear up for another Submerged combat!! Aquaman has won the battle that was submerged but has set records on the box-office, exceeding the Dark Knight Rises of 2012.
The film grossed $1.1 billion and became the most highest-grossing film based on DC comics character. With its enormous success. It’s hardly surprising that Warner Bros. is developing a sequel. The direction will be likely helmed by James Wan this time also. Here are the updates we’ve gathered so far about Aquaman 2:
Aquaman 2 is slated to release on December 16, 2022. The filming will start next year, with the movie set to begin after four years of the release of Aquaman- albeit all this could change.
In an interview with Radio Times, Jason said, “It’s all mapped out. But I would not say they’ve got the final script just yet.”
However, the current world situation has generated some significant delays in the entire entertainment industry, so it remains to be seen what the time retains for Aquaman 2.
Aquaman places after the Justice League of 2017 and revolves around Aquaman, who fights to achieve the place of King of Atlantis Orm, out of his brother-turned-nemesis.
Determined of instigating a war between those above and below sea level, Orm designates Black Manta to seal his place as the Ocean Master over other championships that are underwater. It could be averted if his brother is overthrown by Arthur, unwilling to undertake his obligation because of the rightful king. Doing this meant owning the missing Trident of Atlan, an ancient relic that may only be possessed by the sea’s king.
In the post-credits scenes, we saw, so we doubt that this is a Black Manta swore vengeance.
Of course, Jason Mamoa will be back as the titular Aquaman. But, Amber Heard is likely to appear in the sequel given that the allegations put on her of violence.
Jason is expected to be joined by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Dolph Lundgren (as Nereus), Nicole Kidman (Atlanna), and Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko). Orm, aka Ocean Master, has confirmed his return.
It will almost certainly see a Manta looking for revenge for the offenses of Aquaman. The first film saw the genesis of a traditional villain, so the sequel is going to be the time for him to exploit his potential as the arch-enemy of Aquaman.
“I can tell you that [James Wan’s] concepts for Aquaman 2 are pushing it further,” teased Wilson.”
No trailer appears to land until nearer to the release of the film. Warner Bros. may choose to launch it at San Deigo Comic-Con, as was the case of Aquaman.
