Created by Robia Rashid, Atypical stars Keir Gilchrist as Sam Gardner, an autistic teenager who must contend with all the trials and tribulations of growing up. Among Sam’s defining traits is that he’s fascinated by Antarctica and enjoys penguins. The series was renewed for a fourth and last season in February 2020.
The Netflix first series concentrates on the lives of Sam’s family members. His mother Elsa (Jennifer Jason Leigh) loves him very much, but maybe overbearing and is reluctant to allow Sam to have the liberty he wants.
