BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: The Brand New Sedan Line-Up from the British Automaker.

BMW is again focusing on it’s sedan segment and trying to expand it’s the horizon. This time with the new two series Gran coupe, the company claims the coupe to be one of the smallest four-door coupes.

The main aim of the vehicle is to focus on sheer driving pleasure completely. The company claims an impressive driving dynamics in the new model promising the customers with the utmost driving experience. According to leaks and rumors, the model is assumed to hit the Indian market near about 2020-21.

The company emphasis on expanding the two series international line-up along with the existing coupe. The company claims to manufacture a more convertible and active tourer, even if it is built on some different platforms from the previous models.

The new Gran Coupe is rumored to be featuring a front-wheel-drive which is based on the same FAAR architecture as seen in the recently launched BMW1 series. Leaks and rumors point out that there will initially be three variants of the two series Gran Coupe. The 3 rumored models are expected to supporting different engine specifications in it’s line-up.

The first model 218i houses a 140hp engine capable of producing a maximum of 220Nm torque, with a 1.5-liter petrol unit. The second model 220d features a 2.0-liter diesel engine capable of delivering 140hp and a maximum torque of 400Nm.

The highest variant is powered by 2.0 liter, four-cylinder, twin-turbocharged petrol engine producing 306hp and 450Nm of torque.

The company confirms the acceleration pickup of the new model to be 4.9 seconds from 0-100Kmph, with a top speed of 250Kmph. All the above models are mated to an either 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed automatic gearbox in order to deliver different speed profiles.

Reports also point the highest variant to be available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as it’s standard.
With such top-end spec sheets available in the new two series Gran Coupe, the model is likely to compete against their much-anticipated rivals, including Mercedes-Benz A-class, CLA and Audi’s A3 sedan which are currently ruling in the respective price segment in the Indian market. The expected price of the model is guessed to be around 37-47 lakh rupees in India.
