Like we said earlier, ducktail spoilers are awesome, and we love that they are making a comeback. And perhaps Ducktail’s most famous PureWore of them all – the Porsche – has a redesigned inbound.
Interestingly, this is the one thing we will not associate with ducktails – a 911 turbo. In particular, the upcoming 992 editions.
A test mule for the car was photographed in the area around Porsche’s home in Stuttgart, Germany. We’ve seen other 992 turbo prototypes sporting a retractable wing, which we suspect will be the standard configuration. The fit that this car has to its wide tail may be an optional extra, or we may see a special version of the turbo.
For the 992 Turbo model, we do not yet have any concrete facts to work with, but some assumptions can be made. It will be an all-wheel drive, and given the power bump the 992 Carrera S received over its predecessor, we suspect that the S version of the Turbo will evolve to over 600bhp to maintain the 911 hierarchy.
Power will most likely be sent via an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission instead of the seven-speed 991 Turbo, which reflects the 992 Carrera’s gearbox switch.
We can expect to see the car in full minus the gaffer tape early next year.
