The Chevrolet Corvette C8 has been worth the wait for some. Presenting the company with a new take for what feels like forever. While it isn’t flawless, the Corvette C8 delivers outstanding value in terms of price. With figures matching up there with cars costing twice as much.
And the lap times at Nürburgring show this, with Chevrolet reporting a 7:29.9 time. If you’re all for crunching numbers. You’ll know that these Nürburgring lap times, official or unofficial, were once the standard.
A detailed way to gauge success over what is effectively a very long. Risky road path not for the faint at heart. Although the 7:29.9 nothing to scoff at, there’s a phrase going around that it could have quicker.
We are pretty well sure, according to Muscle Cars & Trucks (MC&T). That the lap time reported by Chevrolet in February 2020 is probably a quicker Corvette C8. One that well closer to completion than measured at the end of December last year.
The lap time in question in December 2019 was recorded at an incredible 7:28.30, which was an exclusive shared on the website of MC&T. That’s 1.6 seconds better than Chevrolet says and it has something to do with how it was modified before meeting consumers, according to MC&T.
MC&T also goes on to say “In addition, since its official release and early exposure to long-standing car magazines, the new Corvette has seen many re-calibrations.”
They have reached out for comment to Chevy, and the manufacturer stands by their performance numbers. Judging from MC&T’s track record of correct guesswork on the Corvette C8 and all its speculation, that may very well be the case, and their comments are on the mark.
