In the first half of 2021, Europe will receive a Renault Kwid EV as the Dacia Season. Today the new electric car unveiled in prototype form.
The Dacia Spring Electric is effectively the European version of Renault City K-ZE in China.
The Dacia Spring Electric is basically the European version of China’s Renault City K-ZE. Which is actually India’s Renault Kwid’s pure electric model. For a vintage feel, it uses a pastel grey body polish with matte neon orange splashes.
The eco-friendly city car is 3.73 meters long and is fairly compact and suitable for daily use. The extra high ground clearance. Faux skid plates built into the front and rear bumpers and the powerful headlights feature to give it an assertive look.
Speaking of the headlights, they are all-LED units and designed in two ways:
So, the upper portion has a horizontal strip and the bumper has four graphic elements. The four full-LED lights on the back build a double-Y effect. Dacia demonstrates its future lighting design implicitly with the Spring Electric idea as well.
Without getting into technical details, Dacia says the Spring Electric will be providing more than 124 miles (200 km) of range (WLTP). The City K-ZE from Dongfeng-Renault uses a 26.8 kWh battery pack and guarantees 271 km of range (NEDC). So, it’s electric motor produces a torque of 33 kW (44.87 bhp) and 125 Nm.
It takes half an hour to charge from 30-80 percent using a DC fast charger while it takes four hours to charge from 0-100 percent using an AC standard charger.
India can get the next-gen Renault Kwid’s only electrical variant directly. Until then, the focus will be on new models based on the CMF-A+ platform, such as the Renault HBC sub-4 meter SUV and sub-4 meter Renault LBA sedans.
