Doom Patrol Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot And More News

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has caused numerous television and movie productions being closed down in efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 and now it’s verified that DC Universe’s Doom Patrol is one of them. The series, which was in production in its second season, was revealed in a message delivered from producer Greg Berlanti to his showrunners regarding relief efforts for employees to be among shows to have their production stopped back in March due to the outbreak.

On Wednesday, Berlanti sent a message into showrunners detailing $1 million in relief efforts for those impacted by the pandemic, explicitly earmarking $600,000 for a fund to offer emergency assistance to people working on Berlanti Productions jobs. Berlanti’s message suggested that priority was being given to displays which were in busy production once the shutdown hit such as Doom Patrol.

“We’d love to start by opening up it to the shows which were shutdown with production incomplete. Those shows are Batwoman, Doom Patrol, The Flash, Riverdale, The Flight Attendant, Supergirl, Prodigal Son,” the letter indicated.

While many supposed that Doom Patrol was likely among the shows whose productions were halted due to the pandemic, Berlanti’s message affirms it. Generally, there has been very little information about production on Doom Patrol’s next season. In early March, before the shutdown, it had been declared that Glee alum Samantha Marie Ware had joined the throw of the series among Crazy Jane’s (Diane Guerrero) many characters that hadn’t been seen in Season 1. There’d been other casting news earlier this season also, with the accession of NCIS: New Orleans actress Karen Obilom place to appear as Roni Evers, a military veteran with a mysterious past in addition to the casting of Abigail Shapiro as Niles Caulder’s (Timothy Dalton) daughter, Dorothy.

According to Doom Patrol showrunner, Dorothy will play a substantial part in the series’s second season.

“They now have a young child in their midst Who’s very demanding due to superpowers she has who are uncontrollable,” Carver said before.” [She] is a force and both lovable. They Niles are going to have to determine a way to keep the world safe from Dorothy.”

It’s unclear when Doom Patrol’s next season will debut at this point. Still, if it does, it is going to launch simultaneously on DC Universe and the forthcoming WarnerMedia streaming assistance, HBO Max.
