In a brand new update to their sales figures, Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil franchise has crossed the 100 million components landmark. Although it obviously will not grab the Super Mario series anytime soon (hint: over 600 million), this puts the franchise in the company of other legendary properties like The Legend of Zelda and Star Wars in terms of over 100 million units sold.
Along with that news comes more updates that are specific to the Platinum Sales of Capcom titles. Dragon Hunter: World continues to make bank, having sold an additional 800,000 units since December, keeping it as Capcom’s best-selling title at over 15.7 million units. Resident Evil 7: biohazard has now sold 7.5 million units, although the movie of Resident Evil two is coming up fast with 6.6 million units. Devil May Cry 5 is now the bestselling entry in the franchise in 3.5 million units.
Oh, and the recently-released Resident Evil 3 movie? That’d shipped 2 million units just five days later it was released on April 3. The first RE3 has sold just over 3.5 million units, therefore it won’t be safe for long.
Capcom is really on a roll with the Resident Evil franchise, making it look like a no-brainer for them to be working (allegedly) about the Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil 8.
