Extraction is a 2020 action-thriller starring Chris Hemsworth in the role of the black ops mercenary, Tyler Rake. Tyler must rescue Ovi Mahajan (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), the only son of a powerful Indian drug lord who has been kidnapped by a rival drug lord from Bangladesh.
With a running time of 117 minutes, the film was released on April 24, 2020, on Netflix amidst lockdown and has received a mixed response from the audience. It was the top-streamed film on its debut weekend. Critics praised the performance and action sequences, but criticized the plot and excessive violence.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval of 68% and an average rating of 6.14 out of 10. On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average of 56 out of 100.
WILL THERE BE AN EXTRACTION 2?
Yes! In May 2020, it was reported that Joe Russo had been hired to write a sequel to the film. So there will definitely be an Extraction 2. However, it will likely be several years before it is actually released. With Chris Hemsworth having a tight schedule, we don’t expect to see Extraction 2 on Netflix before 2023 at the earliest.
WHO WILL RETURN?
Sources confirm that negotiations are ongoing, but it is possible, and more than likely, that Chris Hemsworth will return as Tyler Rake and Sam Hargrave as the director.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
Joe Russo has already begun writing the story for the sequel. In a statement regarding the sequel’s story, Russo said, “We’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience.”
Hence, fans might be expecting a sequel or even a prequel.
Guess we’ll have to wait to find out more. Stay tuned to get fresh updates!
