Godzilla Vs. Kong Will Be Delayed Until Summer 2021

Those that are anticipating the next entry in the MonsterVerse might want to settle in for a wait because it looks like Godzilla Vs. Kong might be delayed. Again. The followup to last year’s King of the Monsters was initially supposed to arrive in theatres this March. Warner Bros. chose to push it back to November, but another delay, possibly as long as six months pushing it to 2021, is on the table.

With films such as this, merchandise is a great way to bring in money. Godzilla vs. Kong will be no exception, and we have already seen some spoiler-heavy toys appear at various conventions around the world. Recently, an Amazon record for a book, The Art of Godzilla vs. Kong, showed up on Reddit. Since the post points out, the publication was initially set to arrive only 3 days before the movie November 20’s current release date. It has now been pushed back to May 21, 2021.

That date just so happens to belong currently to The Matrix 4, another Warner Bros. film. The sequel will be pushed to hit the pause button and, in all probability. Therefore, it appears quite possible, or even likely at this point, that Godzilla vs. Kong may take over that release date instead. The reason not having to do with issues over the film is so much as browsing the cloudy waters surrounding theatrical releases in general. Theaters are expected to open up in July, but to what level will be successful remains. A year from today, the landscape of theatrical distribution should be a lot brighter. It would represent less of a bet for the studio.

Plot details, formally speaking, are kept under wraps for now. However, as stated, some toys that have made their way online indicate a specific character from the Godzilla canon will be joining in on the activity this time around. Also, we understand that Godzilla will be duking it out with King Kong, who is returning for the first time because Kong: Skull Island and will be a little more grown-up. A forthcoming comic book provided a trailer will be rocking a blossom this time around.

Adam Wingard (Blair Witch) directed the film. Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler come back from King of the Monsters, along with Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, Demian Bichir, Alexander Skarsgard, and Eisa Gonzalez, Jessica Henwick, Rebecca Hall and Lance Reddick rounding out the cast.
