Godzilla Vs Kong: Will It Premiere On HBO Max?

Since the 1984 Wonder Woman premiere on HBO Max, Warner Bros has come up with a new strategy for the release of its films. Initially, they confirmed that they will release 6 DC Comics movies per year, 4 on the big screen and 2 on the streaming service.

But now it looks like the idea is going to expand outside the superhero universe and will apply to other Warner movies as well. This could be the case with the long-awaited Godzilla vs Kong movie.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be the last film in the MonsterVerse, which includes the films Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). The film directed by Adam Wingard was scheduled to be released in November 2020, but due to the pandemic it was moved to May 21, 2021.

However, in the face of a worldwide outbreak of Coronavirus and the prolonged closure of cinemas, Warner Bros would be thinking about a new launch format for its feature film: premiering it on HBO Max. But there is a very big problem: Legendary Entertainment, the production company that invested 70% of the budget to make the film, would not have any financial gain from this move.

As reported by The Wrap, if Warner decides to release the film exclusively on HBO Max, Legendary Entertainment would be willing to take legal action against the distributor. This would be a serious problem since the production company is also the company that is making Dune with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya for Warner Bros.

It’s just a matter of waiting for Warner Bros to make a decision. Kong vs Godzilla will star by Millie Bobby Brown, Alezander Skarsgard, Danai Gurira, Eiza Gonzalez and Kyle Chandler.
