The Blacklist’s present season comes to an end on May 15, when NBC will air the partly animated finale. The show was forced to cut its current season short, but those staying episodes are likely to form a part of Season 8 if the series can resume filming.
“The Blacklist continues to tell creative and exciting stories,” Chris Parnell, co-president of Sony Pictures Television said in the moment.
The contracts of the main cast of the series, including direct stars James Spader and Megan Boone, came to an end after Season 7, but they were renewed in anticipation of the show’s renewal. This usually means that all of the actors will be back for more.
James Spader is going to probably be back for the Blacklist’ Season 8.
What is less certain, however, is when the show will return for another season. IMDB now has it Season 8 will come back in 2021, which seems likely if creation at New York is shut until the summertime.

The Blacklist’s current season had to end production in mid-March, three episodes earlier than planned. According to USA Today, Bokenkamp and Eisendrath are currently determining whether to begin Season 8 together with the plot lines in the three episodes that have yet to be filmed or to start afresh.
Eisendrath informed Variety: “Ordinarily we start the season in the writers’ room, thinking,’Oh my God, we put all the fantastic stuff at the conclusion of the previous calendar year.’ At least this season, moving forward, it’ll be the opposite… We’ve got all this wonderful stuff that we have not filmed, and hopefully, it will enable us to begin next year with a bang.”
Blacklist celebrity Diego Klattenhoff told TVLine, meanwhile, who although not being proposed as a season finale, the last episode of Season 7 is, “likely to tee up everything for Season 8.” ET on NBC, after which the countdown begins to the beginning of Season 8.
