Honda CBR1000RR-R: Is this Performance Beast Ready To Face Off With The Current Champions?

Honda recently launched its next-generation CBR1000RR-R Fireblade And CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP at EICMA.

Honda has unveiled it’s new Honda CBR1000RR-R which gets brand-new MotoGP-inspired styling with exceptionally large mounted air duct and aero winglets on each side.

All new and enhanced Electronics include a new 6-axis IMU that controls a nine-stage traction control system, cornering ABS and even the vehicle’s launch control.

It also gets a new lightweight frame that drops the curb weight down to 201kg from its previous-gen predecessors.

The company claims to be using the most powerful engine ever used in a Fireblade, an all-new and upgraded electronic suspension in the top-spec variant, the model also features an aerodynamic winglet.

According to the sources, it is almost confirmed that the UK prices of the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R reveal that it will be on the expensive side, so expect the same scenario when it’s launched in India later on.

The MotoGP-inspired winglets are capable of generating maximum downforce at high speed and also enhancing the torque vectoring capabilities of the bike.

This beast machine is provided by longer twin-spar aluminum diamond frame chassis.

The new and enhanced Suspension in the model is handled by 43 mm Showa Big Piston Forks at the front and Pro-Link rear suspension that features a Showa Balance Free Rear Cushion Light shock.

Taking the look at the braking section of the vehicle, braking is handled by Nissan’s four-piston calipers with dual 330 mm discs on the front wheel, along with ABS feature provided in both the wheels, which enhances the safety concerns of the model.

According to sources, the base variant of the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R is priced around ₹ 18.57 lakh and the SP model is priced at around ₹ 21.84 lakh.

The technical specification of both the variants is nearly the same as they get the same engine, a new 999 cc, inline four-cylinder engine that churns a maximum of 215 bhp of power at 14,500 pm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 12,500 rpm.

The only difference we noted between the base variant and the SP model is that the top-spec variant will be getting an additional feature of electronically adjustable semi-active suspension and braking system.
