Indiana Jones 5: Movie Is The Loss Of Its Most Recent Screenwriter, David Koepp?

Indiana Jones 5 has faced several setbacks on its journey to the big screen. Its latest obstacle is the fact that it has again dropped its screenwriter.

Feb Collider, David Koepp, who signed to compose the movie in September 2019, is no more writing Indiana Jones 5 as a result of the movie recently choosing a new director, James Mangold. “When James Mangold came in… he deserves an opportunity to shoot his shot,” Koepp clarified”I had done several versions with Steven [Spielberg]. And when Steven abandoned, it seemed like the ideal time to let Jim have his take on it and have his individual or himself write it”

Together with Spielberg switching places with Mangold, some have wondered if Koepp remains involved with Indiana Jones 5’s script. For a while, it was uncertain, however, Koepp has lately advised Collider he is no longer attached to the undertaking. As Koepp explained, “When James Mangold came in… he deserves an opportunity to shoot his shot. I had done several variations. And when Steven abandoned, it looked like the right time to allow Jim to have his take on it and also have his individual or himself compose it.”

Between the newest script changes and the ongoing pandemic, it sounds like Indiana Jones 5 once again has quite a ways to go before it hits the big screen. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was the last time audiences saw Indy in action, and while this movie earned a lukewarm reception, there are still many who are eager to see Ford don the iconic hat once again. It’s not clear what the story will be about, though even if anything had been teased, it might be shifting under Mangold’s direction. One thing is certain, however: Indiana Jones 5 is not a reboot.

Indiana Jones 5 is hardly the only picture to drop into development hell, even though the numerous flaws have made some wonder if the film will happen in any way. However, Mangold as director’s affirmation indicates things are in the works behind the scenes. Most likely, manufacturing will begin in 2021 when the pandemic has cleared up (hopefully). Should Indiana Jones 5 begin generation by then, it shouldn’t observe any further delays. Things may change in an instant, and odds are, people won’t believe Indiana Jones 5 is happening until they view Ford in costume once more.
