Lewis Hamilton‘s performance in his maiden test outing on a MotoGP bike was”brilliant” according to nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi after their ride swap in Valencia on Monday.
Six-time Formula 1 world champion Hamilton and Rossi connected up together through sponsor Monster to sample a MotoGP bike on Monday for the first time in the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, leaping on the Yamaha MotoGP YZR-M1 bicycle that is 2019-spec.
It added on 2 wheels to Hamilton’s climbing experience, having completed a test on a Yamaha Superbike in Jerez – this time around, he had Rossi alongside him through the test.
“It was so cool to be outside on track and watch Valentino ahead of me on the same bicycle,” said Hamilton, who won high praise from The physician.
“Technically, Valencia is a tricky track and today was windy so at one point I thought it would be difficult for Lewis to last,” said Rossi.
“However he was brilliant on the bike and his position on the M1 was so great. I believe he had loads of fun which is the major thing.”
Hamilton was also to see Rossi complete his first F1 test in a decade, as the Italian drove the 2017 F1 championship-winning Mercedes W08 automobile.
“It’s so amazing to see a legend such as Valentino in the vehicle. I am excited for him, for discovering the automobile for the first time – it reminds me of my first time at a F1 car,” Hamilton said.
“When you see all of the team around you, it’s only a different animal.”
