Season five of Peaky Blinders ended in September this past year, leaving audiences on a massive cliffhanger that saw Tommy Shelby’s destiny hang in the balance.
Hopefully, with fresh social distancing measures for filming set up, the show will be able to resume production soon, but until then, here is everything you want to know about the upcoming series…
Release Date
It had been estimated that season six of Peaky Blinders will be coming by the end of the calendar year, with most of its prior series airing throughout that time, but a September air date is currently looking highly unlikely.
In March 2020, the BBC confirmed that filming Peaky Blinders had been postponed to an unspecified date, due to the escalating coronavirus crisis.
The show is now more likely to return in 2021 at the first since there is doubt over the length of time the virus will probably be causing disruption.
Plot
Details have yet to emerge, but the show five finale certainly left us with lots of questions.
Is this the end of the campaign to deliver Oswald Mosley down from the inside? What will be the fallout? Will Tommy stand openly against the fascist leader?
Can Finn take responsibility for leaking details of this program to assassinate Oswald Mosley? What will Arthur do today he has lost Linda? Is Polly completed with Shelby Company Ltd, and how will she react to the passing of her fiancé Aberama Gold?
Right now, we can only speculate on the answers to those questions, since the plot to series six will likely be kept tightly under wraps until closer to its premiere.
What we do know is that the Peaky Blinders set has had a revamp, after director Anthony Byrne disclosed the Garrison bar was redesigned with a new black and gold color scheme — the significance of which will become apparent…
Cast
Casting has yet to be verified for another season, but you can be sure that Cillian Murphy will return in the use of Tommy Shelby, for which he’s received widespread critical acclaim.
Although Tommy’s first wife Grace was murdered during string three, we saw her return in season five to haunt her former husband and she even appeared in the season finale, with Tommy talking to her since he held a gun to his head.
In terms of guest stars for the upcoming series, Stephen Graham was expected to appear on the season, but due to the coronavirus-caused production delay, it is uncertain whether he will be able to commit to future filming dates.
