Renault and Nissan are on the verge of increasing their operations in India through three models. By mid 2026, the brands will launch two SUVs and one MPV. Through this launch, both companies make the biggest product update to India in years.
Nissan MPV Launch Scheduled for December 18
Nissan will launch a 7-seater MPV on the 18th of December, 2025. It’ll be a vehicle that’s targeting the Indian customer base rather than anyone else. Expect prices to commence at around Rs 5.75 lakh and go up to Rs 6 lakh ex-showroom. If all goes according to plan, deliveries could start in January 2026.
The MPV will be built on the Renault Triber with slight modifications in the design. Moreover, modifications also entail redesigned bumpers, a new front grille, and modifications on headlamp and tail lamp designs. The car will be fitted with alternative 15-inch alloy wheels and minor modifications in the style.
Additionally, the MPV will also have the 2+3+2 seating configuration inside with removable 3rd row seating. Hence, this will enable it to have a larger boot space during times when fewer people are in the plane. The updates of the cabin will be primarily on new colours and trims.
A three-cylinder, three-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine will be used to drive the MPV. It will generate 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. There will be 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options of transmission. There will also be a dealer-offered option of CNG retrofit.
Renault Third-Generation Duster Arrives in January
Subsequently, Renault will introduce the third-generation Duster in India on January 26, 2026. It will be the first full new model by Renault in India in 5 years. Notably, the SUV has a contemporary exterior design without losing its durable appearance.
The interior of the Duster has been modernized with a cleaner layout and modern cabin. Increased trims can feature Level 2 ADAS to aid the driver and be safe. Duster will be launched with a 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo petrol. Renault will launch a hybrid version by the beginning of 2027.
The SUV has the same platform and engines as the future Tekton of Nissan. This gives them mechanical compatibility and specific styling to each model. The New Duster is anticipated to reinforce Renault in India in the SUV market.
Nissan Tekton SUV Expected by Mid-2026
The Indian market will see the introduction of Nissan Tekton SUV in June 2026. The Tekton is going to be constructed around the Duster platform with similar engines. The SUV will be more aggressive featuring interlocked DRLs, tail lights, and a smashing bonnet emblem.
Nevertheless, the interiors and working plans of the Tekton will be like the Duster. This is because the SUV has been crafted to attract buyers who desire to buy a modern-styled mid-size SUV. Subsequently, Nissan can also introduce the Tekton in the first quarter of 2026 and do a partial release in the second quarter.
Both Nissan and Renault are paying attention to the competitive price and new features among the Indian customers. In essence, it is hoped that the launches will drive sales of the two brands back in the expanding SUV and MPV markets.
