Sherlock Holmes is arguably one of the most beloved characters in popular culture. This Victorian detective has appeared in many movies, TV shows, and internet series and has been played by different celebrities. The first Sherlock Holmes movie released in 2009 and starred Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, and Marl Strong together with Robert Downey Jr. A sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, came out in 2011. Since then, fans are waiting to get a movie in the franchise. Robert Downey, Jr.’s Sherlock and Jude Law’s Watson made a Wonderful pair of crime-solving investigators. However, as Robert Downey Jr. got heavily involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Iron Man, the threequel needed to wait longer. And now, nearly a decade after the former movie is about to end.
This franchise’s distributors, Warner Brothers, declared that the next movie would be publishing 22nd December 2021. This means the film will probably be competing with James Cameron’s Avatar two and Hotel Transylvania.
For starters, Downey Jr. and Law will be reprising their roles as Holmes and Watson. Rachel McAdams is rumored to return to play with the part of Irene Adler. Peaky Blinders celebrity Paul Anderson will return to play Colonel Sebastian Moran. Dexter Fletcher will direct the film.
Warner Brothers have not released any official trailer since the filming has not started yet. There’s been no statement concerning the name of the movie as well. Suzan Downey, who is one of the producers of this film, commented, “At a certain stage, it’s going to be too long – we’ve waited too long. We’re working as quickly and responsibly as we can to get a great script.”
