Skoda India has begun accepting Rapid BS6 model bookings. The Skoda Rapid will sport a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with an all-new BS6 argument. The BS6 Rapid booking number set at Rs 50,000 with deliveries to start April 14, 2020.
A Bangalore-based dealer reported that the latest 1.0-liter engine would initially only sold with a manual transmission. An optional automatic will also be available at a later date. Both. So, there will no longer be the 1.6-liter petrol engine and the 1.5-liter diesel engine.
The turbo-petrol 1.0-liter. The three-cylinder engine is the same as the one used in the Polo and Vento BS6-spec. So, it produces a torque on 110hp and 175Nm. With the Rapid, we always predict the power figures to stay similar.
The engine currently available on the Skoda Rapidshare:
1.6-liter petrol with a torque of 104bhp and 153Nm, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine with a torque of 109bhp and 250Nm. The 1.6-liter petrol engine comes with a five-speed manual transmission. And so a six-speed torque converter. While the 1.5-liter diesel version is fitted with a six-speed manual and optional seven-speed DSG transmission.
It expected that all engines and transmission models currently on sale will withdraw from the company. The 1.5-liter transmission will not take forward due to a lack of BS6 approval. However, the 1.6-liter petrol engine sold in the Volkswagen Vento BS6 compliant configuration. What needs to be seen if the weather Skoda will continue to sell a 1.6-liter BS6 variant of the Rapid.
Apart from the engine, the BS6 model not supposed to make many improvements. The Skoda Rapid will continue to feature LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. Ambient interior lighting, a touchscreen infotainment system. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rearview camera with direction and so a cruise control, among others.
