Station 19 season 3 spoilers follow.
Grey’s Anatomy wrapped up its third season with all the incident’Louder Than a Bomb’, and the bombshell moniker was fitted by a few of the revelations.
Probably the biggest shock from the incident was that the news that Andy Herrera’s mother Elena was still alive, which rocked her world, as Elena’s funeral was attended by her in just 9-years old watching.
That is one which we are sure is going to be a part of year 4, a plot twist. Showrunner Krista Vernoff spoke to TVLine tease of what to expect going ahead a small bit and to unpack the decision-making behind the show.

The exec disclosed that they had determined Andy’s mother was alive” since the start of our conversations about season 3,” adding: “It was among the first ideas we had.”
Figuring out how Andy will probably be”massively, massively” changed by learning that her mom is living, Krista explained: “There’s unsaid, so much unknown. What happened? Why did her father tell her mother was dead to her?
“What occurred between [Pruitt and Elena] is such ripe, fertile ground for season 4. Werre is extremely excited to get into it. We all know what occurred, but Andy doesn’t.”
There is more going on past her mum for Andy being alive. Her marriage to Sullivan is on the stones, particularly after she wasn’t there when he awakened from his operation and based on Krista, it could go either way.

“Andy’s a mess. She does not know which way is up,” she explained. “Does that mean she is not in love with Sullivan? No. She is a mess and can be with Sullivan in love.
“The marriage could be both a perfect balm and an error. I’m not sure what it is yet. But for certain, she has not been a fantastic wife!”
Vernoff shared that the authors were planning on returning to operate with Zoom, though they’re not sure when filming will resume.
