Tesla Rivian files patent for names R1V and R2X and we are curious

Tesla’s rival Rivian has yet to deliver mass-produced vehicles after announcing the electric products of the company. The R1T, an electric pickup truck, and R1S, an electric SUV, are the two announcements made by the company. But looks like the Rivian is already reserving names for the R1T and R1S siblings.

The automaker applied for the names, R1V and R2X with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The vehicle type has not been revealed with the names. But as the R1T was named of a pickup truck and R1S for an SUV, these names might hint towards a full capacity van and a cheaper crossover vehicle.

The sources hinted toward a passenger-friendly variant of the Prime delivery vans rit’s building for Amazon. A company’s spokesperson informed, “trademarks aren’t vehicle programs” and that Rivian files such applications “for all kinds of stuff,”.

The R2X can be taken as a hinted crossover vehicle. Both the upcoming vehicles can share the same powertrain option as the R1T and R1s. This would provide them with a total output of 750 horsepower by four electric motors. Each one for each individual wheel. There is also the chance Rivian applied for the trademark for no particular product-related reason at all.

The R1T and R1S deliveries are expected to start before the end of this year. And we might get the announcements of the upcoming vehicles before that too.
