The Boys season 2: Cast, Plot, Release Date, Trailer And Everything We Know

It’s impossible to even think superhero fatigue is something after viewing The Boys. A couple of minutes in, your eyes will open wide and they’ll remain that way for the eight episodes which follow.

So it’s very good news that The Boys has been renewed for another season. Announced by Amazon prior to the season aired, this sophomore campaign will provide fans with more chances to understand The Seven while additionally diving into the comic-book origin material.

And Amazon’s commissioning assurance paid off: year one was a hit for the service.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, stated: “We’re thrilled that The Boys have surpassed our forecasts for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most viewed Amazon Original series by our Prime Video clients.

“This creates great momentum and enthusiasm for us as we get ready for two.”

Do they have somebody on staff with the superpower to predict popularity? That would describe the commission for two. Or perhaps they only knew exactly what they had on their hands. In any event, they must be quite happy that they will have the ability to capitalize on season one’s achievement as swiftly as possible.

The Boys season 2 cast: Who will be in it?

The majority of the core cast out of season one will return, including favorites like Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Jack Quaid (Hughie), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), and Chace Crawford (The Deep).

Our first look at the character in year two of Urban tips that Billy will have a lot more butchering to perform in the days ahead:

Even some could appear in flashbacks too. On the other hand, the only casting news that’s ever been confirmed up to now is Aya Cash, fresh addition to the show who is set to play a known as Stormfront.

Swapping out the humor of her show You’re the Worst for something far darker, Cash will play a gender-flipped version of the hero. From the comics, he is put by Stormfront supremacist views into conflict with The Boys, and we’re convinced the TV version will follow an identical path.

Actor Antony Starr teased the character to Entertainment Weekly, describing how “She is the grenade which gets thrown into Homelander’s world and the world of the Seven. She really causes me many issues.”

Money herself enlarged on the role farther: “I think Stormfront resembles a bomb that goes off at the Seven. Maybe a bomb is not the right word. We are in Chernobyl. There you go. It’s a Chernobyl thing.

“I think she’s here in order to blow off Vought. She is here to attempt to get Vought back into the first idea behind creating superheroes… And she is able to be quite the feminist. There’s a good deal of, I wouldn’t state misdirect, but she also is an extremely empowered woman.”

Loyal comic book fans who have been disappointed in the lack of trouble on the series will be thrilled to hear that Billy’s dog, Terror, will star in an upcoming event. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed the news to EW, explaining that Butcher’s loyal friend didn’t turn up earlier because”shooting dogs is JUST TOO F**KING HARD”.

Kripke has confirmed that Patton Oswalt will be joining the cast too. He announced the information on Twitter via a selfie

What could this key function be? Die-hard lovers guess he may be playing a comic book author who uses his encyclopedic knowledge of superheroes against them, The Legend while Oswalt’s personality is still under wraps. It sure sounds like that would come in handy.

One cast member we know for a fact will not be returning is Simon Pegg in the role of Hugh Campbell Sr. Talking to Collider, the Shaun of the Dead star was asked if he’ll appear in year two and this is exactly what he had to say:

“No, they got me out of the way. I did my little bit. It was very fun to do that show. I was delighted to be part of it.”

The Boys season 2 plot: What will happen?

If you thought Translucent (Alex Hassell) came to an explosive end in the episode, that’s nothing compared to how the finale left things. Butcher sought revenge believing he’d raped his wife driven her to suicide.

As we heard at the last scene, however, Becca (Shantel VanSanten) is actually alive and well, raising the”hero’s” kid in secret.

The ramifications of this will undoubtedly play a role in season two, turning Butcher’s world upside down much more than before. By deviating from the comic books such as this, fan expectations will be reversed also, promising stories.

Saying that something we can expect to see season two would be the continuing involvement with the army of the Seven. The accession of Stormwatch suggests that more supes will make themselves known too. Our cash on Tek-Knight, a Batman rip-off whose addiction to sex with everything and everyone would offer an interesting counterpoint to the sexual harassment problems.

Speaking of sex, one comic book storyline you shouldn’t expect to see about the show until at least season three is the now-infamous’Herogasm’ run. While discussing the future of The Boys on Reddit, Kripke claimed This orgy-led story has been scheduled for the next period, supposing of course that the series continues for this long:

“We JUST figured out the way to perform Herogasm!! It’ll come in Season 3 possibly (if we have picked up for Season 3),” he said. “I’ve really wanted to do it, however, needed to find out our spin on it, therefore it is not only an hour of hardcore porn. However, I believe we got it!! Super excited about that.”

If Black Noir happens to a role in future seasons as 18, do not be shocked. If you’re not familiar with the comic strips, we won’t spoil whose face is actually hidden behind this mask, but just know that his large reveal changed the team and would probably impact the show in a similar way.

Plus, phone us party-poopers, but… What happened to Stillwell’s baby Teddy? Can we assume Butcher blew up him and that’s fine? That’s not okay. #JusticeForTeddy.

However, whatever comic plots have been brought into the series for season two, the priority is to maintain The Boys current, in terms of what it covers.

“It is about social networking, it’s about where celebrity and politics intersect, it is about how people are now packaging their political messages in slick entertainment bites for the American public to act contrary to their own best interests, and also the way that it’s almost now equal between the people who have political power and the people who have star power. It is frighteningly prescient,” Kripke informed The Hollywood Reporter.

“I think that Garth, in a weird way, predicted the reality that we are alive, which is only an overwhelming tsunami of pop culture, social media, and entertainment that’s being run by very, very powerful men and women who are simply interested in bettering their own schedule,” Kripke continued.

“So I think taking shots at actors and the ridiculousness of star life, all the trappings of entourages and publicists and everything that goes about it, is a portion of the narrative.”

“But I think that the other critical part of the story is the fact that it’s dangerous to put those who have actual energy in that position. I believe we discuss celebrity and our culture in a way that no other superhero series ever gets, and that I believe in its own weird way we are telling one of the very current, timely stories on TV.”

“It is just completely bonkers. I will simply put it this way, the scale is a great deal larger. I think we’ve topped season one, in terms of crazy moments which make you say’ What the hell?”’ I have done things this year that are definite firsts for me in my profession, and I likely will not do them again since.”

The Boys season 2 release date: mid-2020?

So our money’s on the next starting at a similar moment this year, the first season of The Boys debuted in July 2019. The very long lead time required for a show with this most effects, we would speculate, partially motivated the renewal of the series before this air date.

Release date of matches, on Instagram Karl Urban, affirmed as actor the show wrapped filming. Additionally, at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Kripke advised Collider to expect the next season at”about the same time “. A summer launch of July 2020 seems the most probable.

If you’re really desperate for the launch date and have swallowed absolutely everything related to Your Boys, then you could be pleased to know that those themed Funko Pops exist.

Watch The Boys season 2 trailer

The Boys season two trailer does not show much about the storyline, but it – predictably – has snapshots of the characters of the show and lots of violence.

It seems that season two will pick up right where the first left off, with the evil Superman stand-in Homelander (the magnificent Antony Starr) showing a super-powered son, and Hughie (Jack Quaid) rescue the life of speedster A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), despite running through his girlfriend at the onset of the show. Ouch.

We also caught a shot of Terror,” Billy Butcher’s dog in the comics that, given his special, err, gift, is one of the most exciting additions to the cast going into season 2.

If it’ll help Amazon released this brief’Young Homelander’ clip under in November 2019, to remind one why he’s not too great.
