The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’s ten-episode first season landed on Netflix to critical and audience acclaim, and it feels like a second season is inevitable.
The showrunners are undoubtedly keen to do more. “When Jeff and I pitched the show to Netflix way back four years ago, we had an ending that we care a great deal about. We had an ending that talks to the movie,” said co-creator Will Matthews.
The Dark Crystal Season 2 Plot
In the first series, we discover that the world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and sickness has been spreading. After three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit, and an epic battle for the planet begins.
Or at least, that’s what the synopsis said before the series’ release – the show itself was more profound, more moving, and scarier than that simple description suggested.
We expect season two will continue the adventures of Rian, Brea, and Deet, with the Henson team expanding the world of Thra, introducing new characters to the war between Gelfling and Skeksis.
Season two will also explore the Darkening in more depth, following the events of the season one finale.
The Dark Crystal Season 2 Cast
The cast includes- Gelflings Rian (Taron Egerton), Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel) will all return. We’re hoping that Natalie Dormer, Toby Jones, Theo James, Mark Strong, Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham-Carter, Harris Dickinson, Eddie Izzard, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Alicia Vikander all find a way to return as their respective Gelflings too.
There are no official confirmations of the returning cast, but you can assume everyone will be keen to come back.
Release Date of Season 2
There is no confirmation for the release of its season 2, but we can expect it to be released by the end of 2020, given the current pandemic.
Stay tuned for all the latest information.
