As befitting a show whose entire plot rests on all that time-wimey material (thanks, Number Five!), the next season of The Umbrella Academy will be a season piece. Netflix has released pictures plus a synopsis, and it seems like our dysfunctional family of ex-child-superheroes has been taking a vacation back.
Here’s the official synopsis, from Netflix:
Five warned his family (so, so many times) that with his abilities to escape out of Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was insecure. He was right – the time jump scatters the siblings punctually in and around over three years. He was starting in 1960. A few, having been trapped in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they.
Five is the final to land, smack dab amid doomsday, which! – ends up is due to the group’s disruption of the deadline (déjà vu, anyone?). The Umbrella Academy must discover a way to reunite, figure out what triggered doomsday, set a stop to it now, and return to the current timeline to prevent that apocalypse—all while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or something.
