The Witcher Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot And Everything You Know So Far

The Witcher season 2 will continue to stream on Netflix after the closure of season 1, continuing the fantasy adventures of Geralt of Rivia, Ciri, and Yennefer.

The series is based on a book by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s. With positive reviews of viewers and critiques on season 1, the storyline will carry on with more adventure of monster hunt and drama.

Background

The Witcher is a fantasy drama series produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The first season consisted of eight episodes and was released on Netflix on December 20, 2019. Netflix announced a second eight-episode season, to be released in 2021.

Release Date

There’s still no particular date for the streaming has been finalized, but surely it will take a while, and it is said that in 2021 probably the new season will be released.

The delay is because of the ongoing COVID19 pandemic. Though, Netflix has confirmed that The Witcher season 2 will resume filming on August 17, by tweeting a song by Jaskier, the bard.

What’s New In Season 2?

Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), and Freya Allan (Ciri) will continue to make the audience glued to the series with the return for The Witcher season 2. The full cast for the show has been revealed by Netflix, too, including key new characters.

Three new members are apparently joining the cast: Lambert, played by Paul Bullion, and Coën, played by Yasen Atour, Sources says that they’ll be the new Witcher, but it is not confirmed by Netflix. This has created the expectation that The Witcher season 2 will take us to Kaer Morhen, where witchers are trained.
