Toyota is moving towards diversification in India and is set to introduce about 15 models by 2030. This move will probably commence in 2026 and have a variety of SUVs, electrified vehicles, and updated models making their way into the Indian market. Toyota is aimed at strengthening its presence and offering domestic consumers a wider range of options.

Urban Cruiser BEV Set To Enter India

The Toyota electric vehicle will begin with Urban Cruiser BEV, which shares a similar platform with Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The five-seater SUV will have a projected driving range of more than 500km. It will be fitted with advanced facilities and safety mechanisms that are appropriate in urban and highway driving.

Urban Cruiser BEV will be powered by the same battery and motor technology as Suzuki. Subsequently, Toyota will be able to sell the SUV at a competitive price to appeal to the environmentally conscious customers. It is projected to be produced and launched locally in the year 2026.

Urban Cruiser Hyryder Refresh And Updates

Additionally, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the popular midsize SUV will have a mid-cycle update. The update will be concerned with the visual enhancements and new features within the cabin. Further upgrades that may be available are Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems but nothing is done with the current hybrid and mild-hybrid engines.                                                                                                                                           

Nonetheless, Toyota would like to add to the experience of the interior to include more technology and comfort. The updates are supposed to make the model competitive in the expanding midsize SUV in India.

New Hilux Influences Future Fortuner Designs

The recently launched all-new Hilux globally is likely to influence Toyota’s India plans. The pickup features a bold new design with a squared-off front fascia and connected slim headlamps. Essentially, the design follows Toyota’s Tough and Agile philosophy and takes inspiration from the Land Cruiser family.

The new Hilux is offered having a range of powertrain choices, such as petrol, diesel, 48 V mild-hybrid and fully electric. These options create opportunities to the upcoming Fortuner models. Toyota can introduce the new Hilux in India in 2026, and the next generation of the Fortuner can come at the same time.

Land Cruiser Prado CBU Import Planned

Toyota is also reporting of introducing the recent Land Cruiser Prado in India. The massive SUV will come as a CBU import in the year to come and is founded on the TNGA-F ladder-frame. It uses a 2.4 litre hybrid turbocharged petrol with a battery of 1.87 kWh, and an electric motor.

The Land Cruiser Prado targets consumers who want to have high-end SUV models with current hybrid technology. The Toyota strategy involves provision of various SUVs at the various segments in order to reach more people.

The Toyota 2026 strategies are a definite attempt to expand its presence in India. The firm targets to provide options within the segments with several SUVs, electrified models, and fresh vehicles.
