Vietnamese electric vehicles are taking an incremental step in India and VinFast VF6 is one of such. Placed as a small electric SUV, the VF6 caters to low-end consumers that are interested in performance and features.
Built in India, it arrives as a rival to models like the Tata Curvv EV. Its Southeast Asian origin adds interest in an already crowded electric vehicle market.
VinFast VF6 Design, Dimensions, and Platform Details
VinFast VF6 features a rounded exterior, which looks like a hatchback rather than an SUV. The LED lighting signature at the front and back gives it an immediate brand recognition in the Indian roads. The car is more than 4,200 mm long, and it is based on 2,730 mm long wheelbase. Urban use and the unevenness of the road conditions are supported by a ground clearance of 190 mm.
Higher trims come with eighteen-inch alloy wheels and black body cladding is very minimal. Back styling is by rising beltline and floating roof design. These features introduce the vehicle a small look albeit the size. The battery is attached to the floor, and this assists in rigidity of structure and weight distribution.
Cabin Layout, Features, and Safety Equipment
The VF6 has a minimalist dashboard design inside, which eliminates a conventional instrument cluster. The driving data are shown on a head-up display that is located in front of the steering wheel. It also has a touchscreen of 12.9 inches that regulates most of the car functions such as climate and driving modes. This is because volume and hazard operation are the only necessary functions that are physically controlled.
There is vegan leather upholstery and soft-touch surfaces in the primary areas of contact. The long wheelbase positively impacts on rear seat space, but high floor interferes with seating posture. The capacity of boots is 423 litres and there is no spare wheel. The safety gear has seven airbags, Level 2 driver assistance, and a 360-degree camera system.
Battery, Performance, and Market Position
The VF6 has a 59.6 kWh lithium-ion battery in all its versions. It has two front-mounted motor outputs with an output of 177 hp or 204 hp. Its higher output model provides 310 Nm of torque and front-wheel drive. Under test conditions, the official range values are between 463 km and 468 km.
Later on, charging support is 7.2 kW AC charging and 100 kW DC fast charging. The higher-powered version accelerates to 100kmph in a little more than eight seconds. Power delivery may be sudden on aggressive driving particularly on the front wheels. The price is between Rs 16.49 lakh and 18.29 lakh ex-showroom in India.
The VF6 is offered with a seven-year vehicle warranty and a ten-year battery warranty. This pricing places it below several electric SUVs of similar size. VinFast plans to expand its electric lineup further in India. The VF6 represents a new Southeast Asian entrant focused on value, features, and competitive positioning.
