    2020 Genesis G70 2.0T Review And Specification

It is not thrilling with more cylinders and turbo. With the advent of the compact 2019 Genesis G70 Sport sedan in its growing lineup.

The G70 is a proper sports sedan, and even without the pedigree of BMW or Mercedes-Benz, it is an immediate contender in its class.

If we are talking about the G70 3.3T, which is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 generating 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, not much has been said though about the base G70, which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, which produces a more modest 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

The G70 2.0T can be had with a manual transmission – the G70 3.3T cannot – and is lighter. When we sat down to weigh its advantages and disadvantages, however, we realized that this is not one of those cases where less is more. Instead, you get what you offer with the G70 2.0T: less than 3.3T cars.

Unlike the automatic-G70 3.3T, the only available transmission on my G70 2.0T Sport trim is a six-speed manual.

The 2.0T Sport has an additional $ 3,000 added on the base, eight-speed-automatic model (though you’ll get a lot of gear beyond the automatic transmission on its own) and requires rear-wheel drive; If you want an all-wheel ride, this is automatic for you.

Yet, in a world where the population of manual-equipped cars is shrinking by the day, here’s a hunch for Genesis to offer one.

The G70’s handling proof is baked into its DNA, which makes it every bit as fun to bend the 2.0T model as the 3.3T version.

Indeed, less power is available from the smaller engine. Still, the G70’s combination of excellent suspension tuning, quick-yet-precise steering and powerful stopping force comes with a price of entry, regardless of engine.

If you were thinking that opting for a six-speed manual transmission over an eight-speed automatic would cost an extra two grand, it might have something to do with the fact that even with the standard high-performance Brembo brake package Comes.

The system has the power to stop two pistons and four pistons at the front, which are closed on a massive 13.8-inch front rotor.

And the callipers are red, looking cool behind the car’s standard 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tires.

These powerful, stylish stoppers are only available with the G70 2.0T Sport or 3.3T Advanced. We would appreciate the availability of any manual transmission, but this particular six-speed requires some work.

The rod feels loose and fuzzy in its motions when rowing through the gears, and the clutch can use a sturdy paddle.

In its current form, the broadcast feels like it was pledged to an Elantra and implanted into the G70. If it were as stiff and reliable as the Mita manual, then we are praising what may be the best bang-for-her performance luxury sedan on the market.

Also, the stick shift is only available on rear-wheel-drive models with smaller engines, which means the Get-Go, which is not intended to be the second coming of a manual-equipped sport sedan.

On paper, the G70’s base turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine feels quite powerful with 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. In reality, I often find myself accelerating and turning into a power zero, which makes the engine feel relaxed.

The solution is to modify the high before shifting, which is a small adjustment, though increasing the volume on the engine’s low-to-sonorous exhaust note.

It does not appear that Genesis engineers did much work to justify the marriage of the engine and transmission, which explains the impact of the base model components even more.

The G70 is a luxury compact sports sedan, emphasizing “compact”. If you have any of the front seats in your butt, the comfortable quarters feel beautiful, as if the cabin wraps intentionally.
