Land Rover Defender Revived, Discovery Facelift Prototype Spotted at The Ring.

Land Rover, the top luxury marques, also a marvellous automotive manufacturer famous for cars that go almost anywhere, even roads, deep-diving potholes, anywhere. The Land Rover has launched a vehicle while we spotted one. So let’s gossip.

    Land Rover Defender Hardtop

The iconic Defender roots back to the 1950s and Land Rover just revived the long left legend as the new Defender 90 and Defender 110 4×4 range. The revived Defender follows being a pure motive. It was first disclosed to the world in the 2019 Frankfurt motor show as a commercial version. The most apparent specie to the Defender Hard Top is the deletion of the rearmost side windows, but the brand continues towing, payload and off-road capacity will carry on as critical attributes.

The new Defender retains the same the aluminium-intensive D7x platform and fully independent coil spring suspension from the passenger version. Also, it will be fitted with adjustable air suspension allowing up to 291mm of ground clearance and a 900mm wading depth. It is stated to have a 3500kg of max towing capacity. Hence, cargo is favoured removing the second and the third row.

To maintain some staff-carrying dimension the Defender Hard Top will be optionally accessible with an optional front row go up the seat to carry up to 3 occupants, and in conjunction with Land Rover’s ClearSight camera-fed rearview mirror means rearward visibility remains intact. Unfortunately, Land Rover hasn’t released any interior or cargo bay images.

    Spied 2021 Land Rover Discovery

The prototype was snapped rounding the Nurburgring tracks. As the old-gen Discovery will need a mid-cycle update, the testing prototype might hint towards a facelift coming soon. The cam-Discovery prototype looks quite similar to the current model. Hence a refreshed look is not expected. We might see updated grille design along with refreshed bumper and headlights and taillights.

Inside, we speculate the Discovery to borrow Touch Pro Duo system used in the Range Rover Model, Range Rover Sport Car and Range Rover Velar Car. It features a touch screen infotainment system as well as a secondary touch screen display for climate controls and vehicle settings. A new instrument cluster, ambient lighting might also come in the facelift.

As far as the powertrain is considered, the Discovery mid-cycle update might get a mild-hybrid or plug-in hybrid variant. Similar to Ranger Rover Sport, the Discover might also equip a supercharged and turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine.
